AQUA - TURN BACK TIME

  • Director: Peter Stenbæk
  • Date of release: May 1998
  • Shot in: London (UK) in February 1998
  • Length: 03:59
  • Description:

The video takes place inside a subway station in London. Lene, René, Claus and Søren enter. When passing through the ticket barriers, Lene divides in two entities. One of the two Lenes pursues the group accross the station, staircases and tunnels, not without trouble as most of the doors become closed for her. Finally, Lene-2 manages to get inside the train and reunite with herself.

The plot of the videoclip is a nod to both the song (the singer regrets not telling the truth to her lover) and the movie Sliding Doors, as Turn Back Time was selected to promote it. The movie tells the two possible futures of a woman: if she catches the train on times, or if she doesn't.

  • Facts:
    • The video was screened before the Sliding Doors movie at many cinemas. It was also added as a bonus feature in the VHS and DVD releases of the film.
    • There are two versions of the video: the Original Version or Director's Cut and the Film Version (which mixes the video with footage from the movie). The Director's Cut can only be seen at The Aqua Diary VHS and VCD, while the Film Version was used as standard everywhere else.
    • A stuntwoman disguised as Lene was used to created the two-Lenes effect.
    • With its dark atmosphere and lack of colours, it is considered the most mature Aqua video.
    • It was shot at the underground stations Holborn and Bank (London). They rented a train to control the traffic during filming.
    • It was the first videoclip that Aqua ever shooted outside Denmark.
