AQUA - MY OH MY

  • Director: Peder Perdersen & Peter Stenbæk
  • Year of release: 1998
  • Shot in: Denmark
  • Length: 03:30
  • Description:

Claus and Søren play two pirates in this video. They kidnap a princess (played by Lene) and take her to their pirate ship. The Captain is non other than René. After torturing the princess and having fun of her, they try to throw her to the sea. But eventually, she manages to turn upside down the situation and takes lead of the ship and its crew, becoming a pirate-princess.

They navigate into a island marked in a map, where they find not only the treasure, but also the Captain's father (also played by René). As usual in early Aqua videos, René and Lene characters end kissing.

  • Facts:
    • The theme of the video is rather weird, considering the lyrics of the song, more likely to have been inspired by Robin Hood story.
    • This video was shot and released in the beginning of 1998, to accompain the third Scandinavian edition of My Oh My. There was no video for the first editions in 1997. It was screened in other European countries later in 1998, after Turn Back Time had already been a single.
    • The full ship case was built for the video, but the water was done only with plastic, moved by air to recreate a more realistic effect.
    • Our visitor Alex informs me about a supposed alternate or earlier version of the video he once saw in a special TV programme at a spanish channel, probably in 1997. Apparently, it started with a red seahorse, and René Dif was a king, sitting in his throne, surrounded of gold. The video happened underwater all the way through.
