Hej Matematik explain the origin of their name (06/07/2010)

Hej Matematik In a recent interview for BT, Søren and Nicolaj explained the story behind their band name, Hej Matematik (which in English translates to Hi Mathematics). When they started making music together, they named the project Hej Matematik after a series of textbooks for children, very famous in Denmark years ago. At this stage, they only planned Hej Matematik to be the title of the album.

However, after months of work they completed the CD and hadn't decided a band name yet. They discussed many possible names, like New Time, New Place, New Hope, but none of them seemed to be good enough.

They went to a meeting with their record company, Copenhagen Records, who were really excited about the project. The staff there told them that after all this time, they got accustomed to Hej Matematik term and insisted that it should be the band's name. Søren and Nicolaj looked at each other and agreed.

Thus, Hej Matematik became the name of the band and they changed the album title to Vi Burde Ses Noget Mere (We should meet more often).
